New legionella cases confirmed in Podkarpackie

There have been 18 deaths with confirmed legionella infection, the Poviat Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Rzeszów announced in a statement. Currently, 157 people are infected, most of them are residents of the capital of Podkarpacie.

“Two new positive test results for Legionella pneumophila were confirmed, the patients admitted to the hospital on August 20th and August 29th”. Earlierthe Poviat Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Rzeszów reported a total of 16 deaths and 155 infected people.

The first case of legionellosis was detected on August 18 in Rzeszów. So far, the illness has been detected in four provinces. It’s still not known what is behind the increase in the number of patients and what is the main source of infection.
