Ukrainian Defence Minister may resign, Pravda says

Oleksii Reznikov is in the middle of another scandal, Defense Ministry ordered overpriced jackets for soldiers from MP’s nephew’s firm. The police became interested in the company’s sale of jackets to Ukraine’s Defense Ministry in August 2022, which was brought to their attention two months earlier.

Henadii Kasai, a lawmaker and the uncle of Oleksii Kasai, stated that he had only recently learned about his nephew’s involvement in the company and claimed to have no knowledge of the deal. He denied any conflict of interest, as he was a member of the committee responsible for overseeing military procurement.

A previous investigation by ZN.UA, a Ukrainian outlet, alleged that the Defense Ministry paid $86 per jacket, while Turkish invoices indicated a price of $29. Leaked invoices cited by ZN.UA suggested that the Defense Ministry had paid for winter jackets but received lightweight jackets instead, although the ministry disputed this claim later on.
