China will skip the G20 summit in India

According to sources in India and China, Chinese President Xi Jinping will not attend the upcoming G20 summit in India. The summit was seen as a potential opportunity for Xi to meet with U.S. President Joe Biden and address the difficulties in their relationship. The possibility of a meeting between Xi and Biden has been fueled by recent visits to Beijing by top U.S. officials.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has already announced that he will not be coming to the summit and will send Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov instead. Xi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have also discussed ways to reduce tensions in their bilateral relationship following clashes along their border in 2020 when 24 people in total were killed.
