Prince William paid tribute to his late mother, Princess Diana, at an awards event held on Thursday, expressing that she would have been proud to witness the impactful work carried out by a charity established in her memory to support young individuals globally.
In his speech at London’s Science Museum during the ceremony, the 41-year-old heir to the throne highlighted the significance of his mother’s legacy, which he and his wife, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, have actively embraced in their philanthropic endeavors.
“I know that she would have been honored to see a charity in her name doing such inspirational work to uplift young people from all corners of the globe,” remarked Prince William. He further shared the valuable lesson imparted by Princess Diana, emphasizing that everyone possesses the potential to make meaningful contributions and deserves support.
Established 25 years ago in remembrance of Princess Diana, the Diana Award recognizes the social action and humanitarian efforts of young individuals. The Legacy Award, instituted in 2017, commemorates her legacy, with recipients honored biennially.
During the ceremony, twenty recipients from various countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, India, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Jamaica, were acknowledged for their remarkable contributions.
