Republicans want to win over black voters

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, April 2 – As national polls indicate, black voters are disillusioned with Biden due to his economic policies and unresolved issues. For Republicans, this presents an opportunity to gain support from black voters.

Orlando Owens, a representative of the Republican Party in Milwaukee district, planned to hold a roundtable this month with black political and church leaders to sway them towards Trump’s side. However, Owens’ plan failed because the Republican National Committee announced last month that it was canceling plans for 40 community centers aimed at organizing Black, Hispanic, and Asian American voters.

Currently, black voters in Milwaukee have not yet decided whom they will vote for in November. Meanwhile, older people plan to vote for Biden. What is clear is that without Milwaukee, Biden will lose Wisconsin.

Republicans initiated a campaign to attract black voters back in 2020 when they opened a community center in Bronzeville. In 2022, Milwaukee was chosen as the venue for the party’s convention. This spring, Wisconsin Republicans plan to hire local campaigners to strengthen their position in the state. The issues Republicans will focus on are rising inflation, robberies, carjacking, and immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Although there is still a widespread opinion in society that Republicans are not doing enough for blacks, there are noticeable shifts in favor of Trump. If Biden wants to remain in power, he should intensify his efforts to attract black voters.
