Trio Arrested in Arizona Squatting Scheme Involving Deceased Person’s Home

Arizona authorities have arrested three individuals in connection with a scheme to illegally rent out a deceased person’s home and sell their vehicles. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests following a month-long investigation into reports of squatters occupying the property in the Pebble Lake area.

Kevin Andrew Strawbridge, 38, Jami Demaria, 30, and Cheyenne Keller, 29, were apprehended after deputies discovered their involvement in the unlawful activities. According to a statement from the sheriff’s department, Strawbridge and Demaria were found to have rented out the decedent’s home without authorization and were also implicated in the theft and sale of three vehicles belonging to the deceased.

Further complicating the case, Keller allegedly notarized the signatures of Strawbridge and Demaria on the vehicle titles. She is also facing separate charges related to the burglary of a home and theft of a vehicle from a man deployed in the military.

During the investigation, deputies executed five search warrants on May 10, recovering two stolen vehicles, an unreported stolen vehicle, property stolen from other victims, drugs, drug paraphernalia, and two firearms. The investigation revealed that Strawbridge was additionally linked to the burglary of another deceased person’s property in the area.

All three individuals face felony charges for conspiracy and fraudulent schemes. Strawbridge’s charges include burglary, possession of stolen property, and multiple counts of vehicle theft. Demaria is also charged with burglary and trafficking in stolen property. Keller and another individual, who was found with her during the search, face felony charges for drug possession and illegal possession of firearms.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office indicated that the investigation is ongoing. Attempts to reach the sheriff’s office for further comment were not immediately successful.
