Thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators rallied in cities around the world on Tuesday, following an Israeli strike that killed dozens of Palestinians in a tent camp in Rafah, southern Gaza.
In Britain, a large protest took place in central London, where participants chanted, “Blood on your hands” and, “Stop arming Israel,” near Downing Street and the prime minister’s residence. Most demonstrators dispersed peacefully, but the Metropolitan Police reported that 40 people were arrested at a breakaway protest that obstructed a highway. Additionally, three officers were injured during the incident.
In France, thousands of demonstrators gathered at the Place de la République in Paris. Waving Palestinian flags and chanting, “We are all children of Gaza,” the protesters later spread out across the city. Some briefly blocked the ring road around the French capital, while others clashed with riot police, who used tear gas to prevent them from approaching the Israeli Embassy.
In Mexico, small groups of protesters clashed with police officers outside the Israeli Embassy in Mexico City, throwing rocks and other objects. According to local news reports, six police officers were injured.
In Italy, protesters briefly disrupted train services in Bologna by descending onto the tracks. Demonstrations also took place in Karachi, Pakistan, where participants protested the Israeli strikes and expressed solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
