British TV presenter and healthy living advocate Michael Mosley has been found dead on the Greek island of Symi, according to the island’s deputy mayor.
Mosley, 67, had been missing since Wednesday after he went for a walk alone along a coastal path during intense heat.
Police spokeswoman Constantina Dimoglidou stated that a body believed to be Mosley’s was discovered in the Agia Marina area, pending official identification. “The mayor of the island and a state TV ERT journalist were filming in Agia Marina when they spotted the body,” said deputy mayor Nikitas Grillis. “It is certainly him.”
A police official clarified that the body was located on rocky terrain close to the sea, countering earlier reports that he was found in a cave. The police are currently investigating the scene.
Mosley, who was on the island with his wife, was last seen alive at 1:30 p.m. local time (1030 GMT) on Wednesday. He disappeared after setting out on a rocky coastal path from Agios Nikolaos beach to the village of Pedi, prompting a search operation.
