25-Year-Old Man Stabbed at Randall’s Island Migrant Shelter; Two Arrested

A 25-year-old man was stabbed in the shoulder on Friday night at the Randall’s Island migrant shelter, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

The incident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. The victim was attacked by two other residents of the shelter, identified by police as brothers Josue Deleon, 19, and Moises Deleon, 27. Both suspects were arrested and charged with assault.

According to sources cited by the New York Post, the stabbing followed an earlier altercation between two groups at the shelter. The exact nature of the relationship between the victim and the suspects remains unclear.

The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents reported at New York City migrant shelters. In April, the NYPD arrested five men at a shelter on East 125th Street after they allegedly assaulted another man in his bed and injured a security guard during a confrontation. The men, aged 20 to 33, were charged with third-degree assault and harassment for the attack, which occurred around 2 a.m.

Additionally, in February, two other migrants were arrested at the same facility following separate assaults on a security guard. Police responding to a 911 call for the first assault witnessed the second attack when another migrant began assaulting the security guard while officers were on the scene.

These repeated incidents have highlighted ongoing security and safety concerns within the city’s migrant shelters.

Authorities continue to investigate the latest stabbing, and further details about the altercation and the involved parties are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
