Rapper Travis Scott has been arrested in Paris following an altercation at a luxury hotel, French authorities confirmed. The 33-year-old American artist, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, reportedly engaged in a physical fight with his bodyguard at the five-star George V hotel on Friday morning.
The incident escalated when a security guard attempted to intervene, resulting in Scott allegedly attacking the guard. French prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation into the matter, citing “unspecified violence” against the security personnel involved.
Representatives for Scott have yet to comment on the situation, despite inquiries from various news outlets.
Scott was in Paris after being photographed at an Olympic basketball match between Team USA and Serbia on Thursday evening. He attended the event alongside American businessman Michael Rubin and fellow rapper Quavo, formerly of the hip-hop group Migos.
This recent arrest adds to Scott’s legal troubles this year. Earlier, he was arrested in Miami in connection to an argument that took place on a private yacht. Although a charge of disorderly intoxication was dropped, he still faces a trespassing charge related to that incident.
Travis Scott is a prominent figure in the music industry, with 10 Grammy Award nominations to his name. He previously made headlines in 2021 when 10 fans tragically died in a crowd surge at his Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas. While Scott did not face criminal charges for the incident, he is still entangled in civil lawsuits accusing the event’s organizers of negligence.
In 2023, Scott achieved his first UK number one album with Utopia, although a planned performance in front of Egypt’s pyramids was canceled shortly before its release.
As the investigation in Paris continues, Scott’s legal team and fans await further developments regarding the charges against him.
