13-Year-Old Allegedly Involved in Fatal Altercation with Homeless Man

In a violent incident at Dortmund Harbor, a 31-year-old man was fatally stabbed, with authorities identifying the alleged perpetrator as still a child.

According to police and prosecutors on Friday, a 13-year-old boy is suspected of killing a homeless man at Dortmund Harbor. It was reported that on Thursday evening, a mobile phone video captured the child stabbing the man with a knife. The autopsy revealed that the 31-year-old victim was killed by multiple stab wounds. Investigators confirmed that “the fatal stabs were inflicted by one of the minors who are not criminally responsible.”

Prior to the altercation, there was reportedly a verbal dispute between the victim and the child, with corresponding statements from three other temporarily detained minors. On Thursday evening, four underage suspects were temporarily detained by the police. They included the 13-year-old, another child of the same age, and two teenagers aged 14 and 15.

The two 13-year-olds were released from police custody after questioning. The victim was identified as a 31-year-old man who was recently homeless.

“Currently, there is no indication of involvement in the child’s offense,” stated investigators. Witnesses reported an altercation and alerted the police. The four minors fled but were apprehended shortly afterward. Based on current investigations, it is believed that the four “encountered the victim randomly at the harbor,” with insults exchanged between the 13-year-old and the man. This led to a scuffle, during which the 13-year-old allegedly stabbed the victim.

The mobile phone video capturing the incident was reportedly filmed by the 14-year-old. The alleged perpetrator is of Bulgarian nationality. The possible weapon used in the crime was discovered near the crime scene by a police dog.

The two teenagers, who were represented by legal counsel, were also released on Friday. “There is currently no indication of involvement in the child’s offense,” stated investigators.
