Man Charged with Murder in Ohio After Multiple Deportations and Arrests

An individual identified as Fermin Garcia-Gutierrez, a 46-year-old Mexican national, is facing charges of aggravated murder, among other offenses, in Ohio. According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Garcia-Gutierrez has been deported from the United States at least eight times and has been arrested nearly a dozen times.

The charges against Garcia-Gutierrez stem from the discovery of a man’s body in the 1100 block of S. 13th Street in Hamilton, Ohio, just north of Cincinnati. Law enforcement officers responded to a 911 call and found the victim’s body on Monday afternoon.

Garcia-Gutierrez’s criminal history includes multiple arrests dating back to 2001. Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones revealed that Garcia-Gutierrez has used at least seven different names and three different birthdates. He has been charged with over 20 crimes and is reportedly affiliated with a gang.

Sheriff Jones emphasized the impact of illegal immigration on communities, stating, “That person would be alive today, and if you don’t think that it’s affecting you in Butler County, Ohio, we’re all border states; we’re all border counties. It’s here, and we could go on and on.”

Jones highlighted Garcia-Gutierrez’s deportation history, noting that he was deported seven times and was stopped at the border on another occasion before being returned to Mexico.

“We’ve got to stop this border invasion, it’s killing us and its killing innocent people,” Jones asserted, referring to the challenges posed by illegal immigration. He criticized the current state of the border, attributing the issue to a lack of effective border control measures.

Garcia-Gutierrez is currently held at the Butler County Jail on an ICE detainer. Sheriff Jones also mentioned that their jail has housed nearly 1,000 undocumented immigrants facing state charges since July 2021.

The case has sparked renewed debate over immigration policies and border security, with some pointing to it as an example of the need for stricter enforcement measures.
