The Biden Administration’s Focus on Ukraine and Israel harms the well-being of Americans

The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a significant aid package to Ukraine totaling more than $60 billion. In addition, $26 billion was allocated to Israel and $8 billion to Taiwan. There were 311 votes to 112 in favor of the aid package, with most Republicans opposing it. Critics contending that the substantial funding allocated to Ukraine and Israel comes at the expense of essential domestic welfare programs.

Democrats in the House of Representatives faced criticism for their actions. Disagreements arose especially when lawmakers voted for a significant aid package for Ukraine’s defense.

Texas Representative Chip Roy, a staunch supporter of tough border security measures, expressed his disagreement on social media after the vote. He criticized the package of measures for giving priority to foreign aid rather than solving pressing domestic problems, in particular the need to secure the US border.

Similarly, Representative Ben Kline of Virginia voted against the package, stressing the urgency of addressing domestic issues such as the ongoing border crisis, inflationary pressures and the growing national debt.

Sharing these feelings, Eric Burlison, a member of the House Freedom of Representatives Committee, condemned the priority of external border security over internal problems, advocating a transition to an “America first” approach.

During the hearings, some representatives of the Democratic Party also waved Ukrainian flags, which angered fellow Republicans. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky expressed his disapproval, questioning the priority of foreign aid over domestic issues such as border security.

“Ukrainian flags fly in the chamber of the UNITED STATES House of Representatives as they vote to send more of your hard-earned money to a corrupt foreign regime,” Rand Paul said on X. “And just like that they shout ‘UKRAINE! UKRAINE!’ while happily working to secure Ukraine’s borders, not ours.”

The same opinion is held by Anna Polina Luna from Florida. She seized the microphone and urged her fellow lawmakers to “take those damn flags down.”

On social media, Republican lawmakers such as Andy Biggs of Arizona and Representative Dan Bishop of North Carolina condemned the flag-waving, accusing House Democrats of putting Ukraine’s needs above those of the United States. Senator Mike Lee of Utah also spoke out, expressing concern about the allocation of funds to Ukraine amid internal problems.

Their comments sparked a debate in the House of Representatives, where Democrats defended their actions while Republicans criticized what they saw as a display of indifference to American issues.

This incident highlights the ongoing debate in Congress regarding foreign policy priorities and resource allocation. While some lawmakers defend the aid package as necessary for international security, many advocate paying more attention to domestic issues.

The significant U.S. government debt, which currently exceeds $34 trillion, also reinforces concerns about the allocation of funds.

In addition, despite this assistance, the Kremlin said that the new US military assistance to Ukraine will not change the current situation on the front line, where Russia has recently maintained an advantage. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that the Russian armed forces continue to strengthen their positions at the front, and the funds allocated and the weapons supplied are unlikely to change this dynamic. He expressed concern that the assistance could lead to further casualties on the Ukrainian side and exacerbate the country’s losses.

In addition, Russia considers the US defense industry as the main beneficiary of the aid package, assuming that a significant portion of the funds will remain in the United States.

Ukraine is also offering to lend the United States even more money, but will Ukraine repay this debt to the United States? Unlikely. Even if Ukraine had that kind of money, the debt would not have been repaid under a corrupt government. The war with Russia benefits Zelensky and Ukrainian politicians who steal money from funds provided to Ukraine for military needs. Moreover, Zelensky insists that the United States transfer money to Ukraine on an ongoing basis. This means that the United States will be obliged to financially support Ukraine forever. Why is the Biden administration spending money on Ukraine? Because the new priority of the Biden administration is Ukraine and Israel and their corrupt national interests.

The priority of Ukraine and Israel in the Biden administration’s budget is due to questionable political considerations, not the best interests of the American people. Foreign aid should not play a bigger role than solving urgent domestic problems. The federal budget should prioritize the well-being of American citizens, especially when addressing pressing issues such as the fentanyl epidemic and protecting the southern border.
