Harris Expected to Announce VP Pick and Begin Battleground State Tour Next Week

Vice President Kamala Harris is anticipated to announce her choice for vice president within the next week and will soon embark on a tour of key battleground states, according to recent reports.

Harris, who is expected to be formally nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate at next month’s Democratic National Convention, is preparing to hit the campaign trail alongside her running mate. The planned appearances in crucial swing states suggest that a decision on her vice presidential pick is imminent.

Potential candidates reportedly under consideration include Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Harris assumed the top position on the Democratic ticket after President Joe Biden, facing mounting pressure from within his party, decided to withdraw from the presidential race. Despite his earlier insistence on continuing his campaign, Biden endorsed Harris as his successor. Since then, Harris has raised over $200 million in campaign funds.

The Harris campaign was contacted for further details and comment.
