The DSA has ushered in stringent regulations requiring social media platforms to diligently monitor and remove illegal content within Europe.
In response to the current crisis, Meta has established a dedicated special operations center staffed with experts proficient in Hebrew and Arabic, the two key languages relevant to the Israel-Palestine conflict. This center is instrumental in the enforcement of content moderation policies and the identification of problematic posts.
Meta’s intensified efforts have already yielded significant results. The company has taken measures to remove or label over 795,000 posts in Hebrew or Arabic that contravene its policies on violent and graphic content, hate speech, harassment, and posts that coordinate harm.
